Special opportunity to participate in renowned Master Horseman JP Giacomini's horse training methods and learn to ride the Classical way! JP and his wife Shelley have been breeding Andalusians and Lusitanos for over 25+ years take working students at their 135 acre farm that are serious about the horse industry.
Care of our Lusitano and Andalusian horses in exchange for riding lessons and a furnished, all bills-paid 4 bedroom furnished apartments on farm - includes high speed internet, washer/dryer. Mares live outside. Breeding experience a plus, but not mandatory. This is NOT a paid position and no stipend. Grooming experience beneficial - Looking for people with a good attitude that are self starters. Honest and hardworking are more important than a lot of horse experience. Riding experience will be a big plus though. Working Students participated during the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, KY and are included in outside activities whenever possible. We have 5 Working Student positions, one available now. Requirements
All the usual barn work. The 5 working students share the barn chores equally. Chores are done mornings, afternoons are for riding. Each are assigned horses to work with under JP´s supervision. Lessons are on our horses. If you want to bring your own horse, we will need to know more about it and you will be required to pay pasture board. Also, new Working Students are taken on a trial basis, and a minimum 3 to 6 month stay is required. The apartment is provided free of charge, however, Working Students are required to contribute $125/month towards the utilities (for apartment electric and water use) .
