The Wrangler Coordinator plays a vital role in leading our horseback riding and wrangler programs, mentoring wrangler staff, helping shape the camp experience through creative programming and staff leadership, and assisting our Barn Coordinator with managing our herd.

Role and Responsibilities The Wrangler Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all wrangler programming, ensuring exceptional experiences for wrangler campers, trail riders, and pony ride participants which includes scheduling, programming, teaching, and risk management. This role works closely with the Barn Coordinator to support horse health, care, and overall barn operations. This position supervises our two wrangler counselors which includes training, supporting, and giving feedback.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21
  • Strong experience in Western horseback riding
  • Experience working in a barn environment and with horse care/management
  • Ability to lead and supervise staff while creating engaging youth programming

Preferred Experience

  • Horse health care management
  • Riding lesson instruction or trail ride supervision
  • Youth development or camp leadership experience

YOUR DAY Wrangler Coordinator provide horseback riding experiences, horseback lessons, and trail riding experiences to a range of campers of differing ages and skill levels.

YMCA Camp Carson is a summer residential camp located in Princeton, IN. We offer week long sessions for around 160 campers during the months of June and July. We have two horse specialty programs for our campers. The first is our Horseback Riding Program which allows campers to learn to ride a horse and then take trail rides. The second program is our Wrangler Program, "Horse Camp," provides campers an introduction to the responsibilities and joys of horses with lots of riding time and hands-on experience. We have 15 horses at our facility along with a barn, arena, and two pastures. Camp Carson offers campers an experience that lasts a lifetime and an environment where they are accepted, challenged, and empowered. We are seeking applicants who are dedicated to working hard and having a positive influence in the lives of children. The work is tough, but the rewards are a blessing. You will see lives change!
