Looking for two individuals or a couple. Job includes: caring for clients’ horses, show horses and school horses in a small and growing equestrian center. Tasks may include: assisting in training young driving horses, preparing horses to be worked, making up feed charts and orders, and overseeing daily health and well-being of the horses, basic equine first aid, helping to keep school horses moderately fit during the summer off season, occasionally pitching in with tack or stall cleaning. There are opportunities for travel to shows as a groom, or to learn the teaching and training methods of the owner and the trainer. We are looking for a combination of team player, as everyone should be available to help out as needed, and self starter who is attentive to the needs of the horses and the farm even when not under supervision. We are not looking to train a complete novice, but there are always opportunities to increase your skill set.

25 permanent stalls and four temporary, on 78 acres. About 30 acres are pasture, another 38 are woods with trails. There are also two small alpaca herds. Facility includes outdoor dressage ring, small covered arena, grass driving ring and training field. We're in the on-going process of developing a lower level cross country course and a combined driving marathon course. Tack room has A/C and a 3/4 bath. There is a small cottage beside the barn for a groom. Owner lives on site. Trainer has a mobile home on site and another will be installed soon. Most days, 2-4 clients come for driving lessons, and 1-4 students for riding lessons. The trainer and assistant trainer may be working up to 6 horses in a day. Building and maintenance projects are ongoing, whether building driving obstacles or improving the existing buildings. The work is steady but not excessive and everyone helps one another. A couple of times per year, it’s “all hands on deck” when we host small shows or clinics.
