We are in search of an assistant trainer/rider for a small breeding farm in NW Florida. Job can be full or part time. The ideal candidate will be responsible, reliable, and able to work independently. Duties will include working with horses, assisting the owner/trainer with her driving horses (no driving experience necessary), some barn chores (usually well less that 2 hours a day), and limited farm maintenance. Occasionally, you will need to handle the farm in our absence. We are looking for a light weight rider (most of the horses here are technically ponies) with riding skills in dressage that can start and ride quiet, young and greener horses with or without guidance. We will consider someone with a hunter/jumper background or natural horsemanship background that rides English. Riders that have a good solid seat and training and haven't started horses are welcome to apply. Our horses are easy to handle, including the stallions. Guidance is available under a USDF Bronze and Silver medalist. Currently, we have 16 head on the farm that consists of minis, Welsh mountain ponies, Gypsies, Gypsy crosses, an APHA, and a warmblood. Ages are weanlings to seniors. We have 2 foals expected in the spring.

900 Sq foot apartment that is fully furnished. Electric and Satellite TV included. Washer and dryer in shop. Use of pool by main house.
Job Benefits
We are a small private barn with no drama. We do have an indoor. Our horses live as horses. The only horse in the barn regularly is one breeding stallion that is out overnight with his mares. Opportunity to learn about driving and how to start a driving horse. Our horses are quiet and very easy to handle, even the stallions. Opportunity to further progress in your skills under a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist. This is not a working student position but a great step up position. Very reasonable work hours. 8-5 most days and a 5.5 day week plus cover some of the feeding.
