The Experiential Outdoor Educator (EOE) is an essential part of the Rocky Mountain Pathways Ranch program. The Experiential Outdoor Educator is responsible for leading groups of students through an 11 Day Experiential Learning and Outdoor Education program which focuses on personal social and emotional growth. EOEs provide positive and meaningful programming and a safe learning environment in which students are able to reach their fullest potential.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following: *
-Provide supervision to students of varying ages, abilities and backgrounds, including both daytime and overnight support in student housing
-Facilitate and participate in experiential and social emotional learning activities with a diverse audience of program participants
-Conduct daily small group discussions and debriefs with program participants and school representatives
-Act as a role model to students in attitude and behavior
-Meet academic objectives and learning targets through the use of engaging instructional techniques
-Provide a physically and emotionally safe environment for participants
-Respond quickly and communicate effectively to any emergency or student behavior situation and approach conflict with a restorative practice mindset
-Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: working in the barn, student dish duty, light cleaning, driving, or leading an activity
Requirements
-Must hold valid driver’s license for at least the past 3 years and have a clean driving record -1 to 2 years’ experience working with youth that have struggled to find success in traditional educational setting -Bachelor’s degree preferred. -Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification and adult CPR preferred -Employee must pass TB Test, Physical Examination and Background

Our program accomplishes this by creating a supportive and challenging environment that pushes students out of their comfort zones, and encourages them to try new experiences. Blackbird Farm is a fun, outdoor education non-profit program dedicated to helping students practice confidence, teamwork, and connectedness. This new camp encourages students to explore new experiences, work effectively with a team, and recognize the importance of being connected to others. Located in Philo, CA.
