Skylark Ranch offers quality riding school instruction in a summer camp setting! Our program features beginning to advanced lessons in both English and Western riding styles. Emphasis in all program levels is on skill development, progression, and expanding knowledge of horses and horse care.
The Head Riding Instructor is responsible for assisting in overseeing the implementation of the riding program, including English and Western disciplines that is safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ ages and abilities. This person should have extensive, documented experience teaching horseback riding at various levels, as well as extensive horseback riding experience themselves. In addition to teaching horseback riding lessons, they will assist the Equestrian Director in providing ongoing supervision and feedback to the Riding Instructor team. This person should promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Serve as a role model to campers and staff in actions, appearance, manners, language, and general conduct. Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must hold or obtain certification in first aid and CPR prior to start. Certification as a horseback riding instructor or previous experience (in the last 3 years) highly preferred. Documented training and experience in horseback riding. Must submit health history record and examination record dated within one year on first day of work. Minimum age: 21 years. Ability to drive, possession of a valid driver's license, and clean DMV record. Support the beliefs and principles of the Girl Scouts.
Supervisory experience preferred, but not required.

Our riding facility consists of two riding arenas, a new tack room, and 30 open-air stalls. Campers participate in daily lessons, in groups assigned based on skill level observed in an assessment ride upon arrival. Teaching and riding school experience highly preferred for all roles.
