Yard Supervisor
Location: South Downs National Park Hours: Full-time – includes weekday evenings & weekends (1 weekend day off every other week) Salary: £32,000 per annum
Lavant Equestrian is seeking an experienced, capable and motivated Yard Supervisor to lead our professional and friendly team.
This is a senior, hands-on position suited to a knowledgeable and confident horse person who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining exceptional standards of equine and customer care. We are looking for someone who can take initiative, remain calm under pressure, lead by example, and communicate clearly and professionally at all times.
About the Role
As Yard Supervisor, you will be responsible for the smooth, efficient and professional daily running of the yard. You will work closely with the General Manager, maintaining clear communication and ensuring all yard systems, procedures and standards are followed consistently.
This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for someone experienced, dependable and ready to take ownership of their position within a high-functioning equestrian centre.

Requirements
Key responsibilities include:
- Sole charge of the yard when required
- Organising, supervising and supporting the yard team
- Delegating daily tasks and ensuring high standards are maintained
- Liaising regularly with the General Manager regarding operations, staffing and horse welfare
- Ensuring all yard systems and protocols are adhered to at all times
- Overseeing all aspects of horse care and welfare on the yard
- Grooming and preparing horses for lessons
- Managing feeding routines
- General yard organisation and maintenance
- Providing a friendly, professional presence for clients and visitors
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Proven experience in sole charge of a yard
- Experience managing or organising a team
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise professionally with senior management
- A friendly, approachable manner and excellent people skills
- A clear understanding of the importance of systems, structure and consistency
- Strong practical horse knowledge and confident handling skills
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Initiative and sound decision-making skills
- Reliability and a strong sense of responsibility
- A full UK driving licence
- A positive, professional attitude
