We are looking for an experienced and committed Head Groom to join our professional showjumping team based in Henfield, West Sussex. This role supports a highly talented young rider competing at the very top level nationally and internationally, and offers the opportunity to become a key part of an exciting and ambitious journey.
We are looking for someone who not only has excellent horsemanship and presentation standards, but who genuinely enjoys leading a team, setting the tone of the yard, and helping younger grooms develop to a high professional standard.
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on position with overall responsibility for the care, management and presentation of top-class sport horses. You will play a central role in the smooth running of the yard, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times and that the team works well together in a calm, organised and professional environment.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone experienced, reliable and quietly confident — someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well, and understands the importance of consistency and detail at this level of the sport.
Requirements
Proven experience working with high-level sport horses
Experience managing a yard and overseeing staff
Excellent grooming and turnout standards
High standards of organisation and yard cleanliness
Ability to manage, support and train junior grooms
Happy to travel to national and international shows
Reliable, professional and level-headed at all times
HGV licence highly desirable (but not essential)
Main Duties:
Full daily yard duties and oversight of routines
Grooming, care and presentation of competition horses
Competition preparation, packing and show support
Staff management and ensuring the yard runs efficiently and smoothly
Liaising with vets, farriers, trainers and suppliers
Maintaining excellent standards of horse welfare, safety and yard organisation
This role would suit someone who takes real pride in their work, enjoys being part of a team effort, and wants to contribute meaningfully to a high-performance programme where standards, horses and people genuinely matter.
If you are an experienced groom who wants to be part of a long-term journey at the top of the sport — and who values professionalism, teamwork and doing things properly — we would love to hear from you.
