AVAILABLE position for ONE or Couple and/or Apprentice
Family run stud requires stud groom to work with variety of stud work from mares, foals, youngstock and very well mannered stallions. To work with a well established team and be confident to work alone if required due to other staff holidays/days off. Must really enjoy working with horses and happy to work weekends and work with existing rota. Must enjoy keeping the yards tidy and have sense of pride in the workplace. We have owners visiting at random times and need the yards to be kept tidy. Must be happy to do basic yard and fencing maintenance alongside day routine. Applicant should be good at keeping horses tidy ie trimming, mane pulling, cleaning, tack cleaning Daily schedule to include feeding, putting out, mucking out, tack cleaning putting horses on and off horse walker, handling of foals, mares, stallions and daily care of horses. Good basic first aid We compete a lot away with Event horses so we need someone who is happy to with the existing team and work alone: take responsibility for portions of the working day and have good initiative and be fun. On site accommodation in two bedroom quality static caravan with double glazing, large garden space, washing machine, internet and gas cooker and central hearing heating. Must be NON SMOKER, small pets allowed or dog if well trained to stay with you as we have sheep onsite so no wandering dogs or hunters!! Riding not a requirement but good quality handling of horses essential and good in hand skills. . Good riding would be great (Pony Club 'B' test/ BHS Stage IV) but not essential for job. Full job description/wage package will provided to enquiries. Apprenticeship also available. Would consider couple with one having salaried full time position as groom and partner doing holiday let cleaning/house on the Farm
