Rider

CANDIDATES FROM ALL OVER EUROPE ARE WELCOME

A successful candidate is able to assist in day-to-day yard duties, as well as comfortable handling and exercising horses from a young age up until seasoned Grand Prix ones. Will be expected to collaborate with a groom, as well as the stable manager who is also the main rider. It is a small private stable expected to hold between 5-10 horses at a time. Yard duties will fall mainly on the groom, but the rider may be asked to contribute. Tacking up and untacking for themselves will be responsibility of the rider. At times the rider may be asked to tack up for the stable manager as well. Riding, lunging, and arena ground work duties will be shared with the main rider. Rider will at times be asked (not a deal breaker) to accompany the main rider to competitions (domestic as well as throughout Europe) and depending on the situation and experience level they may be asked to compete with the horses themselves.

Experience in dealing with young horses and stallions is preferred, through patience and willingness to learn is also well received. Candidates are required to have the following technical skills:

• lunging autonomously
• clipping fur and plaiting mane
• high level of flatwork
• mucking out
• handling arrival at shows
• practise arena support
• tacking up
• handle turn out
• basic first aid and injury detection
• organising packing for shows

Both dressage riders and show jumpers are encouraged to apply. Competitive experience is well received but not essential

There is a zero tolerance policy in regards to heavy handed treatment of horses, and a safety conscious approach is essential.

It is a professional and respectful environment to operate in.

While smokers are not unwelcome, it must be done only outside of the stabling corridor and tack room and must absolutely not become a safety hazard (no smoking close to hay and bedding).
