Hello!! I was a French student working in Triskel flower farm for 8 months. I was a groom/rider, looking after the stallion Destino Larios and the two mares. It was an interesting job, I have learnt a lot about horses and dressage, moreover I improved my English thanks to Margaret. She is a very nice person, always smiling, it is nice to work for her. You will need a good riding level and be able to look after the three horses by yourself, be able to do the daily routine: feeding, cleaning the stables, the arenas, the fields, etc... But the job isn' t too difficult and you will have some free times too! The place is wonderful between the beach and the mountains, it' s an amazing place in Ireland. I spent here 8 unbelievable months, so I am sure you will enjoy it too. If you want more informations, or photos, just contact Margaret she will give you my e-mail address. bye!![Deleted] 26/06/2010
Hi! I have spent a month working at Triskel Flower Farm this summer. I took care of all three horses (stallion Dostino and two mares) and rode Destino every day. He is an advanced, very intelligent horse and a great schoolmaster- thanks to Maggie and him I improved my dressage skills even though we worked together for a relatively short period of time. I sometimes had to help teaching other students who rode the mares or I worked in the garden. This job was satisfying and not too hard. I had one day off per week and Maggie took us to some art exhibitions/festivals etc. so not only did I discover and learn a lot about horsemanship, but also about Ireland and irish culture.[Deleted] 14/08/2010
I rode Destino in dressage tests, from test A to test 24. Destino needs a rider with a soft seat and steady, soft contact, both with the legs and the hand. He really enjoys his work and wants to please his rider, but the rider really needs to give clear signals and keep still otherwise. If not, he might misunderstand and try one of his fancy moves. I also worked with the Connemara ponies. They respond well to training and are ready for more riding work. We backed them while I was there, and rode the bareback around the arena in headcollars. But since I am too heavy to ride them anymore than that, I worked Alba and Sunset in long reins. I also longed all three of them, and they all really listen to the voice aid.[Deleted] 26/04/2015
I'm French and I came at Triskel Flower Farm for two months this summer (2017). I choose to travel with ERASMUS support, with a covenant from my university (I am studying to be a sports teacher in high school). I improved my English a lot, I progressed from B1 level to B2 (and C1 in reading comprehension!) in only two months! It's great to live with an English teacher! The work was really hard only during three days because we have to bring the hay in before the rain, but it was usually not so hard and gave us time to ride and study. I rode mostly the two energics cobs, one didn't know a lot in dressage work but progressed every day and both are really a pleasure to ride! With Margaret's advice I progressed a lot especially in my position, but everything needs time to be changed but changes are done for life with Margaret. With the help of Margaret I studied for the first two BHS exams (Ride Safe Award and Stage 1). I passed them with success at Wildwood equestrian centre and at Danville House equestrian centre, with horses I've never seen! But I was well prepared and people of both equestrian center were very kind! This exams will help me to continue in the pathway of teaching riding, and it's really helpful for my studies. I spent two incredible months in the middle of a beautiful landscape meeting other students and I progress a lot from every point of view![Deleted] 31/10/2017
