Looking for a rider to exercise steeplechase horses. We have 12 very nice horses to get out with me on a daily basis. The horses are well trained and schooled, mostly off the flat track. I’m a former event rider so the horses know to go in a frame and jump gymnastics and courses, as well as going on proper gallops and works. Living accommodations are available on the farm in the beautiful Virginia countryside. These are strong, proper racehorses not for the meek rider.
A position has become available at our riding school in the Berkshire, it is a 5 day week, having Sunday and Monday off. We are located close to Windsor. We are lucky enough to have fantastic hacking and on-site facilities including both indoor and outdoor arenas. Competitive salary including private accommodation. We have a yearly turn over of 30 horses on site, including mares, foals, yearlings, and race horses coming back for a rest. We also have a little group of retired and rescue horses. we are looking for a kind and motivated horse person with some previous experience within the TB industry. They should be reliable, passionate, responsible and prepared to work as part of a team as well as sole charge and show initiative. Duties include but as not limited to:
feeding and caring stables/barns mucking out and maintenance Handling foals, yearlings and mares Assisting with vet and farrier if necessary Putting horses on and off paddocks. A previous experience with young horses and thoroughbreds is appreciated. We need someone with confidence around horses and kind manners.
You will also have the opportunity to go to the races with our trainer and if you wish, go to the training stables to ride with him sometimes in the morning.
The position is live in and sharing the family house for the moment as we are in the process of renovated another small house on site.
Any applicants with tractors experiences is welcomed as well as handyman skills.
Hard working with a sense of responsibility. No need to speak fluent french as we speak English. We are looking for someone to help with all usual yard work, stable work, handling horses, especially young horses, foals, yearlings and colts and all the other little jobs that need to be done around a yard. General duties include handling of young stock, broodmares and colts. Feeding, grooming, stable duties, leading to paddocks. At times you may be left in sole charge of the yard. We can have sometimes over 20 horses on site, foals and yearlings included. You can come for a minimum of a couple of months up to a year. We are friendly and flexible as long as it works both ways. We adapt to each individual, but experience with young horses and thoroughbreds is preferred. Must be observant, orderly, organized and love horses. A great opportunity to learn more, to be given responsibility and at the same time learn French and be immersed into the French culture!
Accomodation is within the familly home for the moment as we are in the process of renovating a little house on site. You have no expenses on a daily basis.
Learning French, use of vehicle, own accomodation, if you are interested and would like to learn more you can also ride at the training center with our trainer and go to the races.
