Fernhill is a professional showjumping farm and we also break in, pre train and spell racehorses. We are situated 1 hr west of Sydney. Fernhill is the home of Australian Showjumping Champion Tom McDermott. We are looking for a rider with a background in showjumping or eventing. This role is NOT suitable for a beginner rider. Groom should should have experience working with and handling horses. Start date around 10/4/2023. These roles require someone with the following qualities - honest and trustworthy, a strong work ethic, the welfare of the horse is your top priority, team player but also able to work alone.
They are live in positions only. Accommodation, food, wifi and share car available and wage, no rental bond required. Living at Fernhill is a great way for a backpacker to save money. Backpackers/travellers must be able to speak reasonable English and follow instructions in English.

We have two farms in Mulgoa and Wagga Wagga NSW. We compete showjumping horses and break in, pre train and spell racehorses. We also breed showjumping horses.
You would work closely with Tom McDermott the current Australian Showjumping Champion.
We require grooms and a rider with a strong background riding performance horses. If you are a capable rider we can teach you to educate and ride pre training racehorses. It is of upmost importance that you are conscientious and pay attention to detail eg if a horse has any injury, wound or is unwell. We are able to sign off 2nd/3rd year visas. Package includes accommodation, food, share car and a wage. We have excellent references from people that have worked for us. It is very important that you can fit in with the rest of our team, are not afraid of hard work and want to have fun. Ability to speak reasonable English and can follow instructions in English.
