Fernhill has two positions available for people with a strong background in showjumping or eventing. These are full time positions for an enthusiastic and dedicated horse person working with Australian Showjumping Champion Tom McDermott. Start date mid October and we are able to sign off 2nd and 3rd year WHV.
Rider is required to exercise thoroughbreds, flat and educate showjumpers. It is NOT a job for a beginner, rider must be experienced and a capable person working with fit horses. Can you please Whatsapp riding videos to +61(0)412051025 with your name attached.
Grooming/stablehand position you will require basic horse knowledge and we can teach you the rest. Duties include feeding, rugging, mucking out, paddock checks etc. Knowledge of farm work would be an advantage as you would be mowing paddocks and fencing.
Pastoral Award rate depending on age. We provide accommodation (your own room), food, share staff car and wifi. Backpackers are encouraged to apply but you must have a current visa and speak reasonable English and understand and follow instructions in English. We have a team of 9 people that live on the farm.

Fernhill is the home of Australian Showjumping Champion Tom McDermott. The farm is situated west of Sydney and is 500 acres and is a listed heritage farm. We breed and compete showjumpers and also agist, break in and pre train thoroughbreds.
We require a rider with a strong background riding performance horses in showjumping or eventing. If you are a capable rider we can teach you to educate and ride pre training racehorses. It is of upmost importance that you are conscientious and pay attention to detail eg if a horse has any injury, wound or is unwell. We are able to sign off 2nd/3rd year visas. Accommodation, food, share car and wifi can be provided. Wage is fulltime Pastoral Award depending on age. A current WHV is required and the ability to speak reasonable English and can follow and understand instructions in English.
