Beautiful, well maintained Eventing and Dressage facility with 2 indoor arenas, 2 outdoor arenas, 75 stalls, gallop track, 6 bedroom dorm for students and all human and horse amenities. Resident owners, manager, and great, happy staff. 200 beautiful acres within 40 minutes of Washington, DC. We've been in business since 1990 and own the property. We are a very honest, consistant, and successful business, keeping many clients boarders and students happy for many years.
This position has opened infinite opportunities for me. I have shown hunter/jumpers my whole life & had never set foot on a cross country course until I started here at Bascule. I have fallen in love with the eventing sport & can say that I never would have if it wasn't for everyone involved in the resident student program. The lessons from Julie, Dick, & occasionally Lillian have developed every aspect of my riding & training. The horses are all wonderful to work with & there is no better feeling then when one of the horses you have helped train gets sold to someone who will take them to their full potential.
I have been riding at Bascule Farm for more than three years now and it is by far the best barn I ever had the chance to ride at. Everyone is nice and it feels like family. The facilities are outstanding, the horses are great and the teachers are awesome. I have had lessons with Dick, Julie and Lillian who all have a very specific way of teaching so I learned a ton from each of them. They really made me a better rider. Chose Bascule Farm, you won't regret it!
Although I am still a relatively new Resident Working Student here at Bascule Farm I can already feel the improvement in my riding and my confidence. Julie, Dick and the rest of the instructors here are always so positive in their feedback and make you feel so proud of ever accomplishment, no mater how small it might be.
Now, the "work" side of it. Yes, you will have to clean stalls/barn aisles, dump/clean/fill water buckets, clean tack and lead horses in and out, but the system they have in place here makes it not so bad. We work as a team here and that makes it much easier. Be prepared for LOTS of walking! This is a big property and there is a lot of ground to cover. Our day starts at 7am and is usually done by 530/6pm, but there are some days that you will be out later.
I am so happy that I made the decision to come to Bascule Farm and I cannot wait to see where this amazing opportunity take me.
