I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
I started late 2012 and have been doing it ever since. I learned basic Equitation and Stable Management at a busy yard with over thirty horses which included liveries, around racehorses and a thoroughbred foal, with very few staff, giving me the opportunity to learn a lot about the business. I also started working with two young mares and furthered their basic training in late 2013 until i moved to a yard which i rode at and helped around the yard and began working there in place of a stable hand who was in charge of full liveries and the yard owners horses as she was injured. I took over her duties of feeding, mucking out, filling and tying hay nets, replacing bedding, filling waters, turning out and working in lessons. I also regularly get pulled into lessons to work younger and green horses when they need to be worked.
Since I started I've done only english ridding but wouldn't mind doing some western if necessary. I've done a small bit of dressage a few years ago and since then have focused on jumping and lighter things such as hacking and flat work depending on what is best for the hors, although I am willing to try something new with horses to further my education.
I sometimes compete in local shows with my current horse or any horses that I've been asked to ride/train, mainly focusing on light jumping.
