Whimsy Brook Farm in Redding CT is looking for person who really enjoys teaching both children and adults, as well as training horses, who has a solid working knowledge of the classical seat and the correct application of the riding aids, is competent in basic dressage and over fences, is a team player, and is open to learning and utilizing a biomechanical/strategic/learning style approach to teaching. We have taught hunt seat, dressage, and western pleasure using a European/body aware model as well as general horse management science for 50 years. All our horses and ponies are school masters, and can be ridden without a bridle for simple maneuvers. They are fully "joined up", respond to the lightest of seat and leg aids, as well as to voice and body language commands, and will lunge on a line and at freedom.
Among other things, we are also a United States Pony Club Riding Center, as well as an intern site for several high school ag-tech programs and several universities both at the graduate and undergraduate level. We also teach anxious students and students with learning and sensory processing disorders. While we do limited showing and go to US Pony Club Rallies, and our home raised stock has been top ten in the nation on the AAA circuit, we are not a lesson mill or a show barn, but a true teaching institution.
Requirements
Must have great hands and be able to exemplify the classical seat, be a mature team player, truly enjoy teaching, be exceptionally honest, safety conscious, a good observer and attend to detail. Driving a gooseneck trailer and/or USPC experience a plus.

We are a CT State Horse Farm of Environmental excellence with the following pristine facilities - 2 barns with 12 insulated rubber-matted stalls, Staff and Boarder's tack rooms, inside and outside wash stalls, 10 sand/ 4 double fenced pasture turnout areas, covered lunging arena with enclosed viewing area, 70 x 160 rubber covered/ lighted outdoor arena with enclosed viewing area, hot walker, mini medical paddocks, run-in sheds w. heated stock tanks, compost facility, mini trail, picnic area. In addition to boarding horses, we provide classical seat riding instruction as well as equine wellness services, including Class IV Therapeutic Laser, homeopathy & nutritional approaches, corrective shoeing, & saddle-fitting. And we are also an educational institution & United States Pony Club Riding Center. We serve as an intern site for high school ag-tech programs, Vet tech programs & universities. We also teach anxious students and students with learning disabilities.
