currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
Due to a change in circumstances I'm currently looking for a part time riding role, 4 mornings a week, but can be flexible. I have over 16 years experience within the industry and have produced horses from youngstock up to intermediate. I'm happy to work with all sorts, from happy hackers to fit competition horses. Quiet but firm rider, who can deal with quirks if necessary. Ideally within 30 mins of Newark but happy to travel up to an hour for the right place.
From Showjumping, to showing/eventing and foals through to stallions I have experience in all aspects of the equestrian world. I am looking for my next long term journey where I can spend my days working with the animals I love, and carry out my exceptionally high standards for the right person.
I have extensive knowledge of nutrition, amd equine first aid due to my pre-vet classes at UF and my time as a working student and groom. I also have a lot of experience as a groom, braiding, clipping, riding a wide variety of horses at various ability and training levels, teaching a wide variety of ability levels, from a rider's first time on a horse to riders competing in the 1.20m jumpers or bringing along green horses. I also have a lot of experience with management, both horses and clients.
I am responsible for a hunter/ jumper lesson program with 30 students and managing the barn with 50 horses. I teach, do training rides, barn chores like feeding, turnout and stalls, and manage all other aspects of care like vet, farrier, etc.
I began riding in 2003 and focused on hunters and equitation until 2014. I have owned or leased my own horse since 2013. Then I began eventing in 2014. I worked at Skibbereen Farm's summer camp in 2012 and 2013. I was a working student and the part time barn manager at Walnut Grove Farm from 2014-2016. I was also a member of the US Pony Club during this time. I attended the University of Findlay for their Equestrian Studies and Animal Science programs from 2017-2019. I was captain of the university's Eventing team, organized horse shows, and taught all levels of riders. I was also a groom at Hasty Hills Farm during the summer of 2019, both at home and at shows. I was a groom for Charlotte Collier, a 4* eventer in the O'Connors' program, both at home and at shows as a well. I managed all aspects of the hunter jumper program at White Anchor Equestrian including care, lessons, showing, and sales before taking over management duties and the lesson program at Canterbury Stables in 2021.
My biggest strengths are my meticulous attention to detail, efficiency, and patience with difficult horses. I have experience as a working student, groom, barn manager, and trainer and have experience mostly in hunter/ jumpers and eventing, and have spent the last two years riding in monthly dressage clinics with top professionals like Gary Rockwell and JJ Tate to improve my dressage skills and riding overall. I do well with “problem” horses and young horses as well.
I have experience in hunters, equitation, jumpers, dressage, eventing, and working with green horses.
I have competed through the 1.0m jumpers, and Training Level eventing at schooling shows and the .90m jumpers at rated shows.
