As a horseman I adapt to the farm and the horses within in order to provide apropriate care and support. Using over thirty years of experiece and the foundations of Classical Equitation helps me to overcome challenges astride and on the ground.
I have been blessed to work with the very finest hunter and jumper farms in the country. My mentors include many Olympians. Limited means meant that in order to ride and work at the highest levels, I chose to apprentice as groom/manager or, working student for much of my career. This has given me terrific insight into the winning ways of many of the top riders and, horsemen in the world. Working independantly and, meeting many customers at their farms, has instilled autonomy and accountability into my craft. Working with so many great Horseman over the years creates a wealth of knowledge from which to solve day to day life challenges. A true Horseman is always learning and will always put the horse first.
Superlative current and former references available upon request.
In order to ride and show at a very high level it has been essential for me to do so as a professional. Virtually my entire life has been spent working with horses in every role except farrier and vet. From handling young stock at breeds approvals, to preparing top show horses for the ring-the common denominator is an intrinsic love for animals and a passion for good movers and jumpers. I am blessed with great understanding and empathy with horses and hounds.
Classical Equitation is the basis of equestrian sport and the focus of my energy. My areas of expertise are with show hunters and jumpers. Though I use dressage to teach horses to be adjustable I am not a pure dressage enthusiast. My passion is horses that jump.I ride primarily outside the ring and integrate flatwork into that context. In my experience horses enjoy it more and develop more quickly when carrying themselves over uneven terrain not found in a ring. Form follows function.
I have competed on several different horses from the Pre-Grn. Hntr. division to the L4 jumper division @ the A shows throughout the southeast. My students have enjoyed success in both the A hunter and jumper rings. I have personally presented numerous Premium stock @ the Holsteiner breed approvals. I volunteer frequently and recently was the scribe for the dressage phase with a grand prix dressage rider and served as a jump judge for a USCTA horse trial. I am asked to judge locally.
