Due to a change in circumstances I'm currently looking for a part time riding role, 4 mornings a week, but can be flexible. I have over 16 years experience within the industry and have produced horses from youngstock up to intermediate. I'm happy to work with all sorts, from happy hackers to fit competition horses. From Showjumping, to showing/eventing and foals through to stallions I have experience in all aspects of the equestrian world. I am looking for my next long term journey where I can spend my days working with the animals I love, and carry out my exceptionally high standards for the right person.
I have a degree in BSc Agric Animal Science at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and am currently doing the MasteryMembership Riding Foundation Program by Caroline Rider, Tao of Horsemanship. I have 6 months experience in working at a dressage yard.
I have returned to South Africa in November after working at a dressage yard in the UK for 6 months. I am now looking for a different yard to work at.
I have worked at a dressage yard in 2022 for 6 months where I mucked out stables, cleaned tack, fed the horses, skipped out stables, groomed horses, handled horses - leading them, picking their feet, grooming them, washing them, putting on rugs, fly masks or fly hats and boots, lunging them and tacking them up for me or my employer. I have also been shown how to clip horses but have not yet clipped them myself.
I grew up on a farm with horses and have learned a lot from them. I am also taking an online course to help me learn more about their behavior and how to train them. I have a passion for horses and am the happiest when I can work with them. I learned to ride a horse from a very young age and could ride on my own by the time I was 5 years old. I used to go hacking on our farm and this year I worked at a dressage yard for 6 months where I had riding lessons every day.
I have been going on hacks with our horses since I was about 5 years old. This year I had dressage lessons every day for 6 months. I have ridden many problem horses like spooky horses and horses that buck often. I have some experience with starting our horses on the farm but I have not yet backed a young horse before.
I have been to competitions as a dressage groom. Where I would groom, tack up, wash, and assist the rider in taking boots of and taking the whip. I would also feed the horses and give them water to drink.
